General Informations
Kwindoo is a comprehensive sailing race management system that offers real-time tracking, virtual race course mapping, emergency communication, and post-race analysis. The platform provides performance analytics, live viewing capabilities, and race replay features accessible through dedicated mobile applications for racers, spectators, and race committee members.
Kwindoo offers flexible pricing options tailored to different sailing communities. Our Club Pass provides unlimited regattas with full features at a monthly rate starting from €48, while Kwindoo Flex offers a simple pay-per-use model at €5/boat per day for occasional events. Event Setup & Management
Begin by registering an account and activating your preferred subscription plan. Once logged in, access the organizer dashboard where you'll find the "Events" menu. Simply click "Create event" and follow our intuitive step-by-step wizard to configure all your event details, from basic information to course settings and participant management. Create your race course through the Race Manager menu's Course Editor, where you can place marks by clicking the map or entering precise GPS coordinates. Customize each mark's appearance and set detailed course itineraries including start/finish lines and rounding directions. Before races, make adjustments via the desktop Course Editor; during events, use our dedicated Race Committee mobile app for real-time repositioning. Note that while mark positions can be modified on mobile, course itinerary changes require the desktop Race Manager.
Participant Information
Download our "Kwindoo Tracking for Racers" app from your device's app store and create an account or log in. Your upcoming events will automatically appear within a 150 nautical mile radius 24 hours before start time. For optimal tracking, activate the app before leaving shore—preferably during the skippers' meeting—and ensure it continues running throughout your entire race for seamless GPS tracking and data collection.
Keep your device fully charged before racing and bring a power bank for longer events to ensure continuous tracking. Protect your phone with a waterproof case and avoid force-closing the app during the race to maintain uninterrupted data collection. Our tracking system transmits data in real-time via mobile networks, with automatic local storage during connection gaps and seamless re-uploading when connectivity resumes. The public tracking display features a standard 2-minute delay, while all tracking history remains permanently stored for comprehensive post-race analysis and recalculation. Spectators can easily follow the action through any web browser or our dedicated Kwindoo Live View app, ensuring everyone stays connected to the excitement.
Safety and Communication
Our emergency call function allows organizers to establish a dedicated hotline number that racers can instantly reach with a single button tap, automatically transmitting their GPS position to the event admin's "Hotline Calls" menu. Beyond this critical feature, Kwindoo enhances safety through real-time fleet monitoring for race committees, tracking capabilities for training sessions, a race-wide messaging system for urgent communications like weather warnings, and self-tracking options that can be shared via live view links with coaches or safety personnel.
Kwindoo delivers powerful branding and promotional tools that help secure valuable sponsorships. Your event gains visibility through strategic logo placement, custom watermarks on tracking maps, and banner positions in high-traffic areas like the newsfeed and results pages. Enhance sponsor value with promotional videos during events, social media integration, and POI markers highlighting sponsor locations. Our communication tools include sponsor acknowledgments in race messages and branded post-race analytics that maintain visibility long after the event concludes.
Technical Requirements
The racer needs to have a amartphone (iOS or Android) with GPS capability and mobile data connection (when possible). They also need to install the Kwindoo Tracking for Racers and sufficient battery for race duration.
To organise a regatta the Race Committee requires computer with internet access for event management. Smartphone or tablet for on-water mark management is optional. For on-water mark management it is required to install Kwindoo Race Committee app on the mobile device.
Spectators can use any device with a web browser or alternatively, the Kwindoo Live View app on iOS or Android.
